    Hi,

Has anyone ever experienced being eligible for BTEA after being on jobseekers 3 months? or is it strictly 9 months?

I'm going back to college in September, and I'm currently working full time.

Seen as that I'm entitled to nothing when I return only my fees paid by SUSI but no maintenance grant, I'd have to get a job (which is fine, I've worked and went to college before) however my partner is on BTEA

I was reading up the criteria for applying for BTEA and it seems to be that you have to be on social welfare for at least 3 months before applying for BTEA

I was considering quitting my job in June, so then i'd be on social welfare for 3 months by september and apply for BTEA then.

Would this work, or is strictly looked at?

    Anyone any tips?
    thanks

if you quit your job youll be disqualified from a sw payment for 9 weeks. So thats not gonna be a possibility for you.

the 3 months only applies to second level courses so leaving cert etc, for all third level courses you must be on sw for 9 months or more

Quitting your job disqualifies you from any SW. You can’t expect to quit a paying job and get Jobseekers.
