I have a cow who just passed a long clear string of slime. She has no behavioural signs of dairy but is due to go. What stage of the heat process could I be in? Is it possible it is a silent heat?
How long from now should I bull her?

I'd Ai her late this evening or early tomorrow depending on what she's at this afternoon.

No activity or anything this evening. I'll see what she's like in the morning.
This happens every year... fierce hard to catch a heat but the father isn't fond of hormones. Thinks she will go when she's ready!

Really!?! The old dairy word is very common around my way. I must be talking to too many of the older generation ;-)

Ya if you came out with a statement she was mad bulling this morning you could get locked up for being sexest

So I didn't catch that cow in heat. We waited to see some kind of activity which never happened. Anyone have a suggestion what best to do with her? Is prostaglandin the recommended injection to get her going? Can it be given anytime or must I wait so many days? Thanks in advance

I tried the young bull on her last 2 times. He's 6 months now so he should be able to spot her. I've missed 2 heats now so I'm anxious to get her bulling properly at this stage. Otherwise I'll have no calf out of her for 2019.
