Hi, moved to a house with a baxi system 35 80 gas boiler.
Installed a baxi megaflo in previous house and had pretty consistent gas bills, never got a stinker even through the big freeze!
Definitely using less heat in this house as iys warmer in general but getting really big bills. Should had that have a gas hob here. Wondering about the efficency of this boiler and if i should start saving now for a new one!

The 35/80 is probably a SE (non condensing) boiler whereas the megaflo is so at least 10% difference in efficiencies straight away.

Thanks for the reply. And would a ten per cent difference work out as a discernable difference in bills do you think ?

Not a lot really, on a €1000 bill would make €100 difference, can you post a few numbers from your gas bill for say the last billing period and we'll have a look, remember you are talking about 2 different houses here.

True. Last house was a 2 bed terrace but i used to blast the heating as had small baby. Could be on for hours and hours ! Summer spring bills would be 70 to 80 euro. Winter 120 max really, maybe 180 was worst ever when had the snow.

Only here 10 months and had a few estimates which makes it hard to track but we are averaging 150 in last 8 month period. Was wondering if gas hob and boiler were the reasons as could change these. Hardly have heating on half as much here between heat wave and warmer house albeit bigger.

    A rough estimate then...€150/2 month = €2.5/day, assuming gas cost €0.06/kwh, consumption = 42kwh/day..take away ~ 8kwh/day for cooking= 34kwh/day for heating, a very low consumption, I average ~ 75 to 80 kwh/day on (oil) heating only.

Thanks for that breakdown, very helpful. I'll stop eyeballing the boiler so, it will last a few more years !
