Discovered I have a coolant leak. Warning light came on today on way home. Bought some coolant and topped up the fluid and now realise the litre just flowed right out somewhere.
Have a problem in getting the car to the garage, it's 20 minutes away. Am I looking at getting it towed over?
I'm feeling it's too risky to drive it that far.
    It's a 318d 2013 if that makes any difference.

That leak was with in short term or long term? I know it is bad but if long term and it currently holding the water, you may can have a chance to drive by light gas pedal. Look a closer garage, it should be possible

Only started leaking today. Topped it up but it went straight out. I think I'll just get it towed, not worth the risk. There is a place nearer that does a bit of everything, tyres, engine repair etc, but I prefer to send it to the garage it always goes to

Check your registration on www.bmwservice.ie. if it's the EGR cooler leak and you're included in the recall BMW will pick up the car and repair it.

As said, no way can you drive it without risk of destroying the engine. Sounds like the expansion tank is cracked open. Common fault on all BMW's of the last 3 decades, shouldn't be massively expensive to replace.
