Dealing with this sort of Personality

Ever come across someone like this? If you just watch about a minute or two of the below video, you'll get a sense for what I'm talking about. I don't want to get into what he's talking about, or use his behavior as a way to discredit those with similar opinions. I only intend to discuss the way he's acting. I understand not everyone wants to click on a link, but please do not comment if you haven't watched the video, or know of the person. I bring this up because I've been caught off guard by this personality type before. Obviously he comes across as a bully, but I want to get into his actions in more detail.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hORRW7s-PE

We see him have a little childish rant between 0:16-0:29. He doesn't seem to realise that when he throws little tantrums like that, that he waives his right to be taken seriously.

He really lets himself down here between 1:11-1:25, when he sort of makes a threat. It's as if he's actually threatening Joe Rogen because he's using the word 'you', although he would say he means the royal 'you'. Rogen tries to laugh it off, but never the less I think it would be hard not to take it personally.

For some reason I have the idea that ex military people behave this way!

You give him a guitar and ignore his ignorant opinions.

    Some good tunes though!

Frequently. Its AH. At least this guy does go on to explain his dislike for Moore.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

I don't know anything about this guy or his background, but going off the couple of minutes that I listened (before I had enough of his guff), he comes across as someone with some insecurities, ie. he's intimidated by other men for various reasons, (their level of education, possibly?) so he feels the need to put others down, thinking it makes him appear to be the bigger man.

I can't listen to these types. I'm embarrassed for them.

Go listen to the Jokko Willik Podcast for awhile. Or watch his appearance on Joe Rogan. He is ex-military. And How.

To say his demeanour and how he acts is the complete opposite of the guy in the video you just linked would be an understatement.

I think Ex Military come with a quite diverse range of personality types and behaviours. And a lot of it comes down to what type of military they were and what level they reached and what actual combat they saw.

That said though - I know literally nothing about the guy in the video you linked. But when I googled him briefly the first sentence that jumped out at me was "Nugent himself never served in the military, neither as a draftee nor volunteer, even though he came of age during the height of the Vietnam War."

As for _what_ he is talking about I can not really speak about it either. I have never really formed an opinion on guns - especially as it is not a big topic here in Ireland.

I have been training my 8 year old daughter to load and shoot a rifle however of late. We go periodically to practice it more. So I am kinda in the middle on the whole gun thing myself. And my son and upcoming next baby will get the same.

Great guitarman for sure but Nugent is like the anti rockstar. Never drank, smoked, did drugs or slept around. Fcker will probably live to 100.

In regards to his hero worship of the military, where was he for Vietnam?
He would have been prime age for the draft or to volunteer.

    All talk no action.

Not at all - through a contact of mine we have access to some training and weapons and the like and I thought to avail of it. I am not against guns in and of themselves.

I just do not know my opinion on actual gun ownership in the home and so forth like they have in America. I am open minded on that as I simply never sat down and listened to the arguments on both sides.

But my daughter who I also give basic combat training to among other things - has a healthy respect and care for the guns she has been allowed work with. And the essentials of gun safety when picking one up and when putting one down is as natural to her as riding a bike at this point.

Here is a video from a guy I kinda like in the US doing something pretty similar actually. His daugther is similar age to mine and she can load - aim - and hit a target in under 10 seconds.

Anyway apologies for that answer as the OP did say they were not interested in the specific content of the video. So we should probably re-rail.

    All talk no action.

Yeah just from the link above which I watched the entire bit of - that is the phrase that comes to mind. An all talk personality.

It particularly comes across when he starts saying things like "If you take me on in any subject I know about I will Fk you up" or "I'd shoot the motherfkr".

That's the talk of a poker player bluffing a strong hand they do not actually have.

You can contrast that to the talk of actual military marines like Jokko Willik who speak about these things more in terms of "Do what I have to do" and how the best way to "win" any confrontation is to get the hell out of it as quick as possible without any stupid notions of losing face or backing down or being the "bigger man".

And those people are the opposite of all talk no action. These are highly decorated military who actually know what they are on about. Not people using guns more for compensating for their own lack of self esteem rather than actual self defence.

Irrespective of politics, firearm control, yadda-yadda, Ted Nugent is a prick. He's a prick that could rock a bit back in the day, but a prick nevertheless.

From an interview he did in 1977:
Interviewer: How did you get out of the draft?
Ted Nugent: Ted was a young boy, appearing to be a hippie but quite opposite in fact, working hard and playing hard, playing rock and roll like a deviant. People would question my sanity, I played so much. So I got my notice to be in the draft. Do you think I was gonna lay down my guitar and go play army? Give me a break! I was busy doin’ it to it. I had a career Jack. If I was walkin’ around, hippying down, getting’ loaded and pickin’ my ass like your common curs, I’d say “Hey yeah, go in the army. Beats the poop out of scuffin’ around in the gutters.” But I wasn’t a gutter dog. I was a hard workin’, mother****in’ rock and roll musician.
I got my physical notice 30 days prior to. Well, on that day I ceased cleansing my body. No more brushing my teeth, no more washing my hair, no baths, no soap, no water. Thirty days of debris build. I stopped shavin’ and I was 18, had a little scraggly beard, really looked like a hippie. I had long hair, and it started gettin’ kinky, matted up. Then two weeks before, I stopped eating any food with nutritional value. I just had chips, Pepsi, beer-stuff I never touched-buttered poop, little jars of Polish sausages, and I’d drink the syrup, I was this side of death, Then a week before, I stopped going to the bathroom. I did it in my pants. poop, piss the whole shot. My pants got crusted up.
See, I approached the whole thing like, Ted Nugent, cool hard-workin’ dude, is gonna wreak havoc on these imbeciles in the armed forces. I’m gonna play their own game, and I’m gonna destroy ’em. Now my whole body is crusted in poop and piss. I was ill. And three or four days before, I started stayin’ awake. I was close to death, but I was in control. I was extremely antidrug as I’ve always been, but I snorted some crystal methedrine. Talk about one wounded motherf*cker. A guy put up four lines, and it was for all four of us, but I didn’t know and I’m vacuuming that poop right up. I was a walking, talking hunk of human poop. I was six-foot-three of sin. So the guys took me down to the physical, and my nerves, my emotions were distraught. I was not a good person. I was wounded. But as painful and nauseous as it was — ’cause I was really into bein’ clean and on the ball — I made gutter swine hippies look like football players. I was deviano.
So I went in, and those guys in uniform couldn’t believe the smell. They were ridiculin’ me and pushin’ me around and I was cryin’, but all the time I was laughin’ to myself. When they stuck the needle in my arm for the blood test I passed out, and when I came to they were kicking me into the wall. Then they made everybody take off their pants, and I did, and this sergeant says, “Oh my God, put those back on! You f*cking swine you!” Then they had a urine test and I couldn’t piss, But my poop was just like ooze, man, so I poop in the cup and put it on the counter. I had poop on my hand and my arm. The guy almost puked. I was so proud. I knew I had these chumps beat. The last thing I remember was wakin’ up in the ear test booth and they were sweepin’ up. So I went home and cleaned up.
They took a putty knife to me. I got the street rats out of my hair, ate some good steaks, beans, potatoes, cottage cheese, milk. A couple of days and I was ready to kick ass. And in the mail I got this big juicy 4-F. They’d call dead people before they’d call my ass. But you know the funny thing about it? I’d make an incredible army man. I’d be a colonel before you knew what hit you, and I’d have the baddest bunch of motherf*ckin’ killers you’d ever seen in my platoon. But I just wasn’t into it. I was too busy doin’ my own thing, you know?

Apparently he also adopted a 17 year old girl to get around age of consent laws!

The man is a total fruitcake. In that interview with Rogan his attitude and argument basically boils down to; fight gun fire with gun fire.

    How insightful.

This is what happens when a man who is a total narcissist with questionable mental health achieves fame and fortune, and look, fair play to him, I highly doubt aul Ted gives much of a toss what anybody on the internet thinks about him as he chills in his mansion with plenty in the bank.

Here's another example of this charming man: https://youtu.be/IIkC2sBDf3o

    An insecure bully.
