Very low mileage/stop start driving advice

    Hi,

Looking for some advice on what to go for based on the following.

Work commute 2km each way. 2 or 3 work related journeys a day of 2km or so each. Maybe then do 50-100km at the weekend with at least one journey being 25km each way.

Need a spacious car, preferably an estate, with a tow bar (to tow a caravan a couple of times a year) Mpg, lowish tax, reliability etc all important.

Currently have a diesel but realise I'll need to get rid. Is there a car out there that ticks those boxes in spite of the low mileage and stop start journeys?

Serious question...do you really need to drive 2 km?
What about walking or a decent bicycle for the short distances and then just focus on a weekend car (or just keep what you already have)

For a couple of reasons, I do need to drive the majority of the time. There may be days when I can cycle but they're in the minority.

Well any petrol or elec car will fo weekly stuff,. A rented 4x4 with tow bar would pull a caravan twice a year. Is the estate linked to the 2x annual caravan or something very frequent like dogs, kids or work equipment?

Space for kids, camping etc. Estate is not essential. A saloon would do.

Had not considered the 4 X 4 rental. I would imagine its quite expensive though.
