Query re producing NCT for Gardaí

I got caught at a checkpoint this morning with an expired NCT. The Garda was sound enough in fairness and said he'd let me off the ticket but I have 10 days to produce the NCT at the station. My query is will this have to be a Pass NCT? Sounds obvious I know but what if I fail on one thing, book the retest and bring evidence of this to the station?
I'm just worried that I'll fail on something that costs a grand to fix and I simply can't afford it within 10 days. Sorry if its a daft question. Cheers.

There is only a pass NCT. If you don't pass you don't get an NCT.

You have 10 days to produce a valid NCT cert, your car will need to pass it.

Ring your local test centres asap and try to get a cancellation slot.
Hopefully the car will pass first time.
Make sure to check everything you can check yourself, light bulbs etc

This is what they will test your car on http://www.rsa.ie/Documents/NCT/New%202018/NCT%20Manual%202018.pdf

Your car must be a junk if the pre NCT repair cost so much. NCT are very easy on that country. Now you should take a NCT appointment and even if you fail you can drive 30 days (if the fault(s) are not dangerous). It may not apply on your case because you need to get the pass. Some of boards.ie members suggest even go to NCT without appointment but be ready to wait hours. Abviosly that is not the best because then they test the not properly warm engine.

Thanks all, it may pass first time no problem. I'm just worried I won't be able to get it through within 10 days. Cheers.

Maybe or maybe not a nct booking date to show to Garda at station might suffice for now,at least it would show a effort to sort it out

It's easy these day to forget to book since they did away with the reminders, I have nearly been caught myself so started using reminder in my phone 3 months in advance.
