WRC adjudication hearing

Hi all. Not seeking legal advice here. Just looking for an opinion on whether or not I should seek it elsewhere.

Long story short - used to work for a guy who never paid me on time, and where arrears kept building up. By the time I left last July, he owed me several thousand euro. He gave me a letter to acknowledge the debt. The letter also set out a schedule of how he proposed to pay off the arrears in instalments between August and December last.

However, I haven't received one cent from him in the meantime, despite several phone calls to him and several statements from him along the lines of 'I should have some of it for you in the next few days'.

So, in January, I lodged a complaint with the Workplace Relations Commission, since that seems to be the first step to take regarding unpaid wages. I've now been given a date for an adjudication hearing in March.

I know that sometimes, people have legal representation at such hearings. Wondering if I should consult a solicitor myself?

As far as I'm concerned, this case looks clearcut, due to the letter I have from him. I honestly can't imagine how he might try to defend the case, or what leg he might have to try stand on. Still though, I want to be prepared, so any advice will be much appreciated.
