    Hi

I have my driving test in a few weeks. This will be my second attempt. I failed back in June with 17 grade 2s. Observation killed me. I got 8 here, with 4 for the Moving off.

I feel like I'm a much better, and much more confident driver now. I haven't done any lessons/pre-tests. I'm just driving with my parents.

Should I do some lessons/pre-tests and are they worth it. Any recommendations?

Without a shadow of a doubt get some lessons under your belt with an instructor in your test area that comes recommended.

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

Your parents aren't going to critique you.

    Hi,

Do not waste money on a pretest. The RSA examiner has kindly given you a genuine worksheet to begin work on.

A good instructor will explain observations to you before moving off. The when, where, how and the whys. Then as you drive he/she will prompt and explain.

As you drive he will/may also note other faults, and will then advise and correct same.

Did a pretest on my second attempt and it really helped get me in the swing of things for the main event. Passed.

Mock tests are overrated. Instruction and advice is what’s needed overall.

The instructor I had wasn't keen on the idea of a pretest either. He preferred to do a session double the length, where hed direct and observe the learner, then discuss what he saw and prompt through bits to review on further driving.
