2299 Euros - Phone looks way better than Samsung and with 5G and 55W charging.

    2300 EUR :eek::eek:

it does look far better than the fold though

I like it, looks nicer than the Samsung, and is bigger. Still 2300 is just silly money.

They probably have a target of 10,000 on these though similar to the Mate 10 Porsche edition last year, it won't be a big seller.

As a tablet though, I've never really been a fan of the 8'0 size though, if your phone is 6'4 the gap is a bit small.

And the screen ratio is too boxy for me.

Aye agree, much better implementation than the Samsung Fold, by the looks of it but with a pricetag to match! Just pre-ordered an S10+ with my fallen due Voda upgrade. This is defo the future, but I would guess we'll see alot of failed folds in both brands, and it needs a few years to get the price under control.

2300 for entry level tech is mad, I wouldn't touch the first generations of these devices, I'd wait the second or third iteration before committing myself to such a device. Let them perfect them and fix the common complaints about them first.

Think I prefer the Samsung Folds 3 screen book configuration . At least it has one non screen surface to lay your phone on without worrying about destroying a screen.

Phone cover manufacturers would be ****ed if foldable phones become a thing. Can't think of any design that would work.

Huawei comes with a case, which can cover one side of display when putting on a surface.

7 inch screen on the Samsung, 8 inch on that, my Mi Max 3 is 6.9 inch, I just dont see the point. Square is a horrible form factor for a screen aswell, loads of dead space whatever you're doing, nobody is going to be operating 3 apps at once no matter how good the multitasking is.

Theres a big visible crease on the Huawei screen aswell.

The Mi Max has 122 square cm screen. The Mate X is over 200 square cm. Not even remotely close in size. The aspect ratios make a massive difference to actual usable screen space.

I know but if you want to watch a video or play a game the amount of actual used space will be very similar to current large screened phones, it's just pointless.

That's good if you want to multi task. Otherwise I'd just be watching with it folded and taking up the whole side.

I would mainly be interested in something like this because I do a lot of split screen multi tasking, and also use Google sheets a lot.

Not that I'd ever actually buy one :D

At the launch I initially thought the Mate X was much better than the Fold but looking at them closer the Mate X looks rushed.

I don't like the button push to release the screen, or how all the components are shoved into the end causing the thick bar when opened into 2 screen mode. Also it does not look like a 2k device when its opened, as in the pic below.

The Fold doesn't have these issues for a cheaper price and not to mention the nightmare of trying to keep the Mate X screen from being destroyed.
