Have a couple of fields index 1 in p but they are ok for K so I’m thinking of ordering a few ton of 0-16-0

When is the best time of year to spread it and also how many bags to the acre do people normally spread?

For those that have spread it do they see much response to it?

As early as possible. As it is an expensive fertlizer make sure you will not get a flood of rain in the next week after spreading. However maje sure you spread some K ad well. It will take a few years to bring levels back up. A small bag 50kg/ acre now and again on silage ground after cutting. But make sure to put K on silage ground as well. If not using slurry use 5 bags of 18-6-12 on silage ground to grow crop

Have spread it as our ground is v low in P too... Found a big difference in spring grass, fields that got it had better, earlier grass...

Why not try DAP 18-46-0 ?
Buying a bit Atm for about €360/t.

    Spread asap.
P is best spread in the spring and k is best spread in the autumn.
I would go with 2 bags now if it was me.
Takes roughly 100 units to go up a full index, that allows for off take.
If you are in derogation you can apply for an extra P allowance, allows you spread up to 40 odd units if really low

Thanks lads. Looks like I’ll go with a good bag and half next week. Ordered it there now. €375 a ton in big bags delivered

23-10-0+s is a good blend to spread in low p ground. Bag and a half on the first round.

I didn't even know such a product existed...

I dont think my local co-op has it, and for the small amount I would be buying, I dont think I could get it elsewhere...

Anyways, trying not to put out much fertilser. Don't see myself buying 0-16-0 again... It'll prob be 18-6-12 from here on out...

I'd always spread p at high growth period......thats the advice I got when I started fixing indexes.

I was thinking that but for my fields it would be a waste as I’ve index 4 k

What kind of land is it? Index 1 for P and 4 for K seems crazy.

In my case it is silage ground that gets 3k of slurry after cutting.

It has always got slurry but this year I might not. Just p on its own.

Save the slurry for other hungry fields.

Is too much P in 1 go a bad thing?

Would there be any downside to spreading more than 2 bag/ac + Nitrogen for 1st cut?
