    Hi does anyone have any information regarding if you can work or disability and be a carer also there is just so many conflicting things I’m confused what is the up to date situation if you want to work and have many hours and caters allowance

    If you are receiving Carers Allowance because you are caring for someone then you can work 15 hours per week but you must inform Carers that you are working.
    If you are getting Carers and Disabilty Allowance as well then you can still only work 15 hours and you have to inform DA that you are working and you need a letter from the GP to say that the work would be of a rehabilitative nature.
    Both these payments are means tested so there’s a possibility both payments be reduced as a result of you working.

    you also need to arrange care for the person you are looking after while you are working.
