I applied, not in the civil service so not sure about the locations. Does anyone know will there be a position in each area? Is there positions being created in each area or will they all be most likely be in Dublin? I was no 1 on a panel for 2 years in my chosen county but no position became available!

theyll be mainly in dublin, its a bit of an anybody's guess about how many show up in the other counties (obviously there are bigger civil service offices in some over others tho)

    Read the booklet.

    Then read the booklet.

    Then read the booklet again.

Look at the criteria set out, and have good examples ready from your career. Use the STAR method to set out your examples.

Does anyone know if you get notified if you're unsuccessful? I applied but haven't heard anything back at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,815 ✭✭✭Burgo

    Give PAS a call.
I applied for the AP ICT as did a few others in my place, they all got news either positive or negative. so a few days later i rang up and got told that i hadnt made it to the next round.

But yes you should have been notified either way.

Has anyone else heard back from PAS?

I got a message saying i was 14th on the Dublin panel. I'd imagine this isn't great as my interview was disaster zone.

on the message you recieve from Public jobs it states your overall order of merit. then breaks down your order of merit in your chosen locations.

Panels are usually active for 2 years or until they exhaust the applicant pool.

I received an email last friday asking me to complete a health Character form and Garda e-Vetting from.

I got the same e-mail on Friday, wonder is it only the Dublin panel getting called to be vetted then as most of the positions will appear there first.

They did say they were doing the vetting process slightly different this time having people vetted before the roles become available. I am presuming normally they would have offered a role then got the person vetted once they accepted.

    Yes, same. In Dublin though

Got top 10 in software development stream. Letter said there is only 1 job and they will be in contact if more positions become available.

Haven't heard back about the infrastructure role yet. I did the interview for infrastructure 1 week after the software development interview, so will probably here back next week.

    Dublin panel.

Did they not combine any streams into the one interview? Seems terribly inefficient to interview the same person multiple times.

Interesting, I didn't receive any letter other than a notification email to state where I was nationally and where I was based on my location. Wasn't informed about what jobs where available or anything

well they are effectively different jobs you are applying for, different people will be interviewing you for each stream.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 241 ✭✭elgicko

Got the result for the Infrastructue stream, got top 10.

Email said only 1 job at present, which is strange as it was a national campaign, something very fishy about the whole thing!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 900 ✭✭✭doc22

Departments may pull of internal panel along with inter HEO panel for any vacancies. Departments may be weighting to see if there own staff made this panel too before pulling from it

Top 10 in a particular location or nationally? There are probably quite few HEO IT jobs outside Dublin. I got top 10 in Dublin and first in my chosen location.

Yep exactly this. I was enquiring about moving to a particualr department, and it seemed to be going well but got a call the other day saying that their HR said no. Found out that their are 3 people from that department on the panel, 2 ahead of me and one behind and they would fill all the available Heo IT positions.

Hi, did anyone apply on the inter-departmental competition ? Has there been much movement on that one ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 187 ✭✭Rdwrer

There's another thread on here about it. There's been loads of movement.

Anyone hear anything about the reserve batches for this competition?
