How do you register one of these online?

She is a fews weeks over her time so looks like the AI didnt take and an unknown weanling did the job instead.

All you can do is make an educated guess at the culprit

Ask the weanings to own up to his responsibility and point out it's his one chance to claim fatherhood....
I had that argument with the dept before about putting down the sire as we didn't know so just picked one that was the right age and went with it. Don't leave it blank!!

What's wrong with leaving it blank?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,018 ✭✭✭L1985

Sorry in my case It was a heifer so would affect the star rating so that's why I didn't want to leave it blank. Prob doesn't matter witha bullock.

I've seen a few Purebred Limousins for sale on Donedeal recently. When I looked at their breeding, about 3 generatiosn back, you could see they are not in fact purebred. Grandmother for example showing up as only 75% Limousin.
How can this be? Would it be the genomics testing?

An animal is considered pedigree at 87.5% pure. The above dam at 75% crossed with 100% bull will result in an 87.5% offspring which at that point can be registered.

I see quiet a few pedigree HO/FR at the moment carrying a small percentage of jersey..

I’ve a cow 85% CH, and due to the AI CH, can I register the calf?

No. The cow would have to be registered

Didn't know that. I might have a few that could qualify, now that I think about it.

Would that not cause compliance issues? Asking purely out of interest ðŸ˜

I'll have a dilemma in about a months time, heifer was surrounded by 3 bulls (2x CH & 1 LM) but never seen her out or a bull in.
So if the legs aren't red I'll be at a loss :pac:

Calf will most likely be tagged for the BDGP so I need to attempt a correct sire!

Actually Sire unknown, if the calf is selected for genomics it will receive a rating based upon its dna evaluation
