    Hello

I am 19 years old and i am currently unemployed. i am doing doing a sports coaching course though. i live with my parents currently. they are high earners but right now they are giving me no money. they provide 2 meals a day and that is it. i have calculated my benefit and privilege and it seems to be negative. does this mean that i do not qualify for it.

If you are doing a course you are not eligible for job seekers allowance. You must be available for and actively seeking full time work and they ask for proof of this.

Also as you are under 25 your parents will be means tested, and as you say they are high earners so this would mean they are over the limit for the means test and you would receive nothing even if you were eligible

From what you are saying, no you cannot claim job seekers. All you can do is try find part time work somewhere.

You’re not looking for or available for full time work so your not eligible for Jobseekers.

I am available for full time work and i have been looking. the course is not a third level course. its a tennis coaching course that takes place one night a week and has no effect really on my unemployment availability. in fact they would look favourably on the course as i am trying to upskill.

Ok you didn’t specify that your course is only very part time. If your parents are both high earners then it’s possible that you won’t get any JSA.
