This is one theory but it is probably one of many reasons why the conflict is happening.
THE Syrian war often seems like a big confusing mess but one factor that is not often mentioned could be the key to unlocking the conflict.

Some experts have pointed out that many of the key players have one thing in common: a billion-dollar gas pipeline.

It was to tackle ISIS (by their own admission). Not sure where the EU come in to it as you haven't elaborated on your hypothesis. Care to give the basis for the question?

The U.S initially "entered" the Syrian conflict by providing overt and covert logistical support (training, arming, transport) to moderate Syrian rebel groups, most notably the Free Syrian Army in 2014....more than likely it was 2012. This was for anti-ISIS operations and also anti-Syrian Regime.

This progressed to direct military support after the Syrian Regime allegedly used chemical weapons against civillians in 2017. A significant cruise missile strike on Syrian Shayrat airbase in Homs.

Although the U.S had a presence throughout the country, they eventually began training and arming Kurdish forces for anti-ISIS operations.

While anti-ISIS operations are the valid reason for their presence, it's "convienient" that...

    1. The Kurdish forces which the U.S currently support have control of the largest number of oil fields on the east side of the Euphrates river. This pisses Putin off as he has been promissed the refurb of the energy sector in Syria (From Assad) due to Russias military intervention from 2015.

    2. The area east of the Euphrates is the land bridge from Iran to Lebanon, U.S backed forces controlling this region pisses Iran off.

So, simplistically, the U.S is there to combat ISIS. Realistically, the U.S is there to oppose Assad and restrict both Russia and Irans influence in the region.

I think the Saudi's definitely engineered things to destabilize Europe, with the help of the Turks. Essentially what they are trying to facilitate in the Long Term is the to make Europe firstly, softened to Islam and then a general takeover.

We cannot honestly believe that the Saudi's don't have a genuine Post-Oil plan.

Their current Post-Oil plan is making investments in Property, Tech, business etc. But that can be written off with the stroke of a pen once the oil is done. The only way to avoid that is to create such a large lobby and voting pool that nobody would want to write that financial infrastructure away.

It's all about energy and money.

I'd say what we hear is just the tip of the iceberg.

It's very easy to look at a picture and come up with our own conclusions.

I suggest reading some of Robert Fisk's books they're very interesting.

The Syria story is a bit like the Muppet show with violence.
