amazon de, Chinese sellers & VAT - how does it work

if i buy from a chinese seller on amazon de, will i get hit with import taxes or is the price paid on amazon de the final price i will pay? I always assumed if i buy from a european amazon store, the price i pay is inclusive of vat, but if the seller is based in china, it becomes less clear.

I always assumed if i buy from a european amazon store, the price i pay is inclusive of vat, but if the seller is based in china, it becomes less clear.

no, but ive never seen that stated on anything ive bought from any amazon.
