My brother in law in US said to me he could get one at a good price, anyone in here have one?

Looking at some of the reviews it seems the metal strap is cheap and cheerful.

The dial looks stunning but is it worth the price tag of €3800 on first release.

Has the same movement as the MM, 8L35. Its considered a basic Grand Seiko movement, basic in the fact that they are undecorated so not the prettiest to look at, and seiko dont seem to regulate them so they generally run +-15 sec per day, thats what owners on WUS say anyway.

Its also a limited edition and even low end seiko's released in limited quantities fetch way more than they should otherwise be worth.

Really though, any watch over a few hundred rarely has a physical feature making it worth hundreds more than similar watches, the law of diminishing returns kicks in quickly and very hard. Its really down to if the watch is worth it to you.

Its your money, its your wrist. knowing the watches history, limited quantity, high end but undecorated and not amazingly regulated movement, overall looks, and what else is available from seiko & other reputable manufacturers in similar and lower price brackets, are you happy to spend your money on this and wear it?

Yes, a limited edition release of a modern version of one of the most desirable Seiko divers.

I don't think it's worth that money. I'm a massive Seiko fan, but for that kind of money I would be spending it on a Black Bay 58 39mm.

If 10 people had €3800 each to spend on a watch we'd have 10 different watches.

Or we'd have 10 watches for 380 each

The SLA017 is a nice piece, I'd love to see one in the flesh, I own the spb053 on a bracelet,

Have the 053 myself and it's been my favourite purchase in a long time, it's probably my daily wearer now.

The SLA017 is nice but I would be wary of values, maybe in the future like most things that are Seiko and limited it's value will climb. My problem is it looks like a 1k Seiko diver, at near 4k GS would get my money instead.

If the op buys the SLA 017 and doesn't like it , I cant imagine he would loose too much on it,

If it's a new watch and was released in Nov 17 demand mustn't be too high. I think I'd pass TBH, I could also say that one can buy a Seiko diver with an automatic movement, 200m water resistance and a great reputation for reliability for €200.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.
