It won’t include any floral tributes or catering or any trimmings at all. Just present the undertakers bill and evidence of your own income. There will be questions about other immediate family and their ability to contribute.
The max amount available will depend on where you are.
Where I live for example the average funeral including the coffin the hearse (there’s no tradition of mourning cars here) overnight in the funeral home one large family wreath opening the grave tea and coffee and snacks in the hotel on the evening removal the priest etc would come to no more then €5000 and if the widow was on a pension only she might get €2000 from the CWO.

Thank you so much for your kind words, it was a shock to us all, ill but he was in the best health in years so it’s knocked us really hard, I’ve handed in everything they sent me a letter to sign so they will send the check directly to the funeral home so I guess the funeral home will contact us when they receive payment of whatever amount is given to us,

I was told only today I should have applied for the widows grant, I’m thinking because I applied for the exceptional needs payment I’ll not be entitled to the widows grant

The Widow's Grant, if you qualify, is a once off payment of €6,000 paid to you. At this point, it would be good to get a full picture of what your entitlements are.
http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/death_related_benefits/benefits_and_entitlements_following_a_death.html Going to Citizens Information before approaching the DEASP rep (formerly known as Community Welfare Officer) again may be good as Citizens Info give you the full picture.

Have you applied for a widows con pension? I’m sorry, were you married or cohabiting? Of course you’ll get the widowed parent grant. It’s €6000. If you were married and you’ve applied for the widows con pension with your children attached as your dependents then you’ll get the €6000 automatically.
If you weren’t married and you’re applying for OPFP then you’ll have to apply for it.
Please take balagans advice and visit the CIC to get help with applying for your entitlements.

Yes married 21 years, you just don’t get told what to apply for when I went to the lady about exceptional needs she never mentioned the widows grant, I’m not employed I’ve not been in years as I had to become a carer

You won’t get the widowed parent grant from the CWO. What payment have you applied for now?

I notified them of death 3 days later for them to stop my carers so I’ve not applied for any payment right now, I guess I’ll have to apply for 1 parent or widows?

You are entitled to the Carers for 12 weeks after your husband died. What payment was he on before he died do you mind me asking and how long is it since either of you worked?

Unfortunately my husband worked up to 9 years ago but a accident ended his career, I’ve always been a stay at home Mum for our kids, we had kids young then 12 years ago we started a second family which hurt bad after my husbands accident

Ok. I’m guessing (hoping) he was in work paying PRSI then had the accident and was getting Illness Benefit and then Invalidity Pension or Disabilty Allowance until he died? If so then you will be entitled to a widows contributory Pension with your children as dependents because he would have been getting a PRSI credit all that time.
If you get the widows contributory Pension then you will get the €6000 automatically.
Were you a dependent on your husbands payment?

Sympathies for your loss. A word of caution. You seem to have assumed you would not be eligible for the Widowed Parent Grant if you were awarded an Exceptional Needs Payment. The Citizens Information Service website suggests that you may be eligible for both. In practice, many applications for an ENP would be refused if the Widowed Parent Grant is payable. It depends on the CWO's interpretation of the guidelines.

We got the ENP but I’ve heard nothing about the widowers grant, our pats come out of husbands card but we got an email unpaid bill broadband, couldn’t sign into online banking belonging to husband went down to the bank they had got a call from bereavement department of Social to say account holder deceased so bank closed down his account I don’t understand they had said we’ll get 6 weeks payment monies in his bank are to cover the bills so I’ll need to ring sky etc all bill payment to be transferred onto my bank, it was like a punch in my tummy, being told again tis really true he’s now been erased from the system, from his bank account 😢

Actually no, I just sent the grant form off...
I’m so upset my husbands bank account was closed down by the SW, it’s like ok erase.... it hurt & set me back a lot, even if they wrote to be to tell me ok I’d have sorted bills out then but no warning it felt like the punch in the stomach I didn’t need 💔

You won’t get the widowed parent grant unless you apply for a widows pension.
SW didn’t close down your husbands bank account, the bank did. If the bank account holder dies, then the bank can’t give the money in that account to anyone until they find out who owns it now.
I think you need to get help to sort all this out as it is a very stressful time and you seem to be fixating on the €6000 grant when you need to get a weekly payment in place. You really should go to your local CIC and ask them to help you.

Fixated on €6000, not at all, I’m fixated on having the funeral bill paid off & having the money to get my child into college everyday so they can become just like their father have an amazing career life but without the accident 9 yrs ago....
I thought I’d automatically change to widows from carers, that’s something I need check up on, I went to bank yesterday they said the social welfare bereavement department contacted them & told them the account holder has passed so nothing will go in or out of the account until death certificate shown, things are so hard without these added issues, trying to balance everything standing on one leg but we’ll get there

You won’t get widows pension unless you apply for it. If you had applied for it you would have got the widowed parent grant automatically. Carers would not organize for you to get a widows pension because that’s not how that works.
I’m concerned for you having no payment in place.
You get Carers for 12 weeks after the death of the Caree.
You should have been a dependent on your husbands DA and on 1/2 rate Carers but it’s too late now.
If your husbands DA was going into the bank then 6 weeks of that is due to you when you sort out his affairs.
The bank will tell you what you need to do.
Yes the bank closed your late husbands bank account because SW notified them that he had died.
Id love to help you because it’s quite complicated and stressful dealing with SW in the aftermath of a spouse dying. There is help out there.

If the deceased person had a credit union account, they will pay a lump sum on the persons death

Not every credit union does that. Ours will cancel your loan if you die but there’s no lump sum.
