My first grandchild is due soon and I'm planning to give a gift of around €10K. I was thinking of putting this in some kind of education fund but I haven't the slightest clue if such a thing exists or is possible or indeed advisable. Any advice or suggestions would be welcome.

I've been looking into this recently and the only option at top of my list is for Prize Bonds

You are better off using the €3000 annual gift as then it doesn't count as a gift with the possibility of a tax charge. I give this to my two grandchildren each year as a tax planning excersise.
