    Hello everyone,

We are hoping to do a full renovation of an early 1900's farmhouse, our engineer is next to near impossible to get a hold of. We had a meeting with him the 1st weekend of January to get a costings done for the mortgage application and he advised that he would have them done during that week. 4 weeks later, we cant get a hold of him except maybe a text message to say he will ring later.

it was the same story getting boundary maps compiled as well. Is this the norm with engineers or should I be looking for a new engineer? my thoughts are how are we going to get him to sign off for stage payments at a later date if its this hard now?

And if anyone knows of any Engineers in West Cork please PM!!!!

    Thanks

Do you need him for stage payments?
Our engineer was a disaster too. Hard to get in touch with, make big mistakes with the drainage plan etc.
If you're having issues with him now then I'd get someone else.
We needed final sign off from our guy which took a while. But when his payments weren't coming though then he had no issue doing his job.
You don't need the extra stress of an engineer like that.

Get rid, id an architect meant to submit plans to apply for planning. After about 6 weeks of not hearing from him i rang to see if it was submitted.
It was a privilege for him to answer his phone, no response to emails etc. It delayed me a few months by wondering what the story was, getting rid and organising a new lad.
In a rural area you might not have many options though

Thank you for your replies, Still no answer or reply from him. I called the office yesterday for a guy there to tell me he would check the systems to see if it was done and then hung up on me. He just about took my name and that was it, havent heard anything since. and I am so afraid now he will send it will errors and that will be another month before i get anything from him. because i dont know how he would remember what we discussed if he is apparently so busy with other clients. **Wits End**
I just need to convince my husband to pull the plug on him now!

Yes we would need him for the stage payments so I am very anxious about that!

Just get rid, you're early in your process and already he's causing you stress and grief. Imagine trying to chase him when things get really serious, getting tenders done, stage payments signed off, etc. It'll be a nightmare.
