Hi we have a water pump that supplies shower and hot and cold water to bathrooms ,fills toilets and hot water to kitchen .

When the taps are off it reads that the pressure is at 3 Bar ,

When l turn on the taps it drops to 1.5 Bar .

Im happy with the 1.5 Bar pressure but am wondering what is the 3 Bar when no water is running .

Is is the water in the pipes leading to the taps is at 3 Bar or water in the pump is at 3 Bar ?

Is it normal for the pressure to go up when the water is not turned on .

    Thanks

Does it explode out of the taps for the first second or two and splash everywhere?

3 bar sitting seems a bit much but it’s normal that it drops when a tap is open. Off the top of my head I can’t see it being a problem in a domestic situation unless it’s blasting water all over the place.

1 Tap that doesn't have the fitting on the pipe thats turns down the pressure on it ( is it penny fitting or something ) is very strong but other 2 is fine and shower is fine .

Is that 3 Bar pressure sitting in the pipes when not in use then ?

Is it possible to reduce that ?

Pumps can have little adjustment thingys undder the cover but you’d have to know what you are doing before taking the cover off something electrical. Could be just something needs twisting.

Sorry for edit I normally work with bigger industrial type pumps. Some household pumps don’t adjust and are set at 3 bar. They normally have gate valves on their outlet side and you can slightly close them. just slightly I think they need to be 70 per cent open from memory.
