We have all you can use water, sure what more would you want?

Ehhh… no. Energy, especially gas, is a finite resource, we need to use less. We'll run out of our own in a decade and will depend on Russia and the countries that pipelines pass through to be kind to us. We're at the end of the gas grid. In a future where we've cracked nuclear fusion, and everything from cars to heaters are electric, then maybe.

As if that's not already enough of an environmental folly.

Once the lid pops on the whole Free Energy conspiracy according to Dr. Stephen Greer, we can use all the lecky and gas we want! Yay!

Once the infrastructure is in place for data, it doesn't really cost the companies much more if you use 10mb or 1gb. That's not the case for electricity, so no, you'll never get all you can eat electricity.

Just imagine how much people would use too, especially if they had electric heaters. No, this will never happen

It's easy. Just run the gas off the electricity and the electricity off the gas.

    It's not rocket science.

Do you know how mobile phones work ?

Everyone connected to the same antenna shares bandwidth, the more people connected and using it the less each one gets.

And you want GAS and Electricity supplied the same way ?

Apples and oranges, gas is a resource while the internet is a service.
But seriously, run the gas off the electricity and electricity off the gas.

They still charge per mb on some plans.

I remember when they charged per the kb on phones though, that was fun!

I can remember when it was 10p for three minutes. And with a 2,400 bps modem.

And I can remember when Eircom came out with DSL and there was a data CAP.
And it was priced at EXACTLY how many minutes worth of off peak calls it would take to download the same amount of data using ISDN.

Internet incurs a certain amount of energy. Whether it's mobile or wired.

It's minuscule in comparison to wired heating.

As my mum always used to say, anything that produces heat is the most expensive.

    Wise my mom was.
