Hello. I'm in court tomorrow for completing community service. District court. I was originally sentenced to cs for theft of petrol, which was genuinely a dumb moment of rushing. I paid the following day then was arrested months later. I was found guilty. Anyway to the community service.

Since then, I have been diagnosed as psychotic with agoraphobia which left me unable to do cs. The probation officer is bringing me to court under section 11.1 ( change of circumstances ) I have psychiatric letters etc. What is the likelihood I will do jail? I have 650 euro to appeal incase I get jail. Is 650 enough vfor a surety / recognizance? Tia.

Legal advice isn’t allowed on boards.

You’ll need to get a solicitor.

Suggest you talk to the solicitor who acted for you in the District Court, and ask her/him to appear for you
    When was your agoraphobia diagnosed?
Could you not do the community service in an enclosed area rather than out in the open?

Will be seeing solicitor soon, I was just asking people what the rough is for bail / appeal in district court. I'm not allowed do community service under the mental health act. I was diagnosed this time last year.

You paid the following day? I've done that before by mistake, got a call from the guards to go back and pay, I did. End of story.

You don't need physical cash for bail if your granted it. I read an article a few weeks ago about a chap getting jail for not doing community service. You need a good word and game plan with your solicitor.

Case thrown out. Shouldn't have been given cs I'm first place. Different judge.

Happened to me last year. I realised the same evening and called them the following day. They said the same thing, that the Gardai would have contacted me to pay it and that would be it.

Sorry you had to go to court over it OP.

No im off my head to be honest. But apparently it's a good thing I know myself. It's like extreme anxiety and depression combined. Makes a lot of sense for acting the dope when I was in my 20s.
