    Hi All,

I'd really appreciate some advice from all the car experts on here - I'm interested in buying a 2015-6 Mondeo.

It would be a diesel as am doing about 50-60k annual mileage.

What's the best diesel engine to go for on this Mondeo?

I'd be looking for cruise control, parking sensors and Bluetooth music capability also.

Would I be well advised to go up North or to the UK to try and pick this up? What websites are people using to find good value, its a while since I did this last?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance for the help folks.

Ok, I was driving one for a few months, they're 1.5 or 2.0
    It was a 1.5 Zetec+
They have a massive boot, they're quite big in the front, big enough in the back seats, but roof line is low enough, refinement is off the scale, they're eerily quiet. Visibility is pretty poor, but it had sensors all round. Not all do though.
There are a good few arse-ups on them from the LHD conversion, like the wipers are backwards, the handbrake switch is on the wrong side, stuff like that, the boot door on them gives you a flood of water when you open the boot in the rain(fixed on later models), panel fit isn't 100% on the doors a lot of the time, and the standard radio/infotainment is a bit laggy and silly, for example you cannot use the phone on Bluetooth unless the radio is turned on.
The 1.5 is very sluggish taking off into roundabouts or at junctions, nearly dangerously so. It comes into its stride once it gets moving though, and is more than adequate on the motorway or open road, however they managed that! It does feel like a long wheelbase Focus though. You get the feeling they just made a small car bigger, it feels narrow.
All in all, it's quite a likeable car despite a few glaring flaws. I'd probably rather one than an equivalent Passat.

Sorry I'd missed the above in a quick search earlier.

Am decided on the 2L engine now and hoping to go source a low mileage 15 reg model in the UK - I appreciate any help with links to where to find one?

Also Colm in another post from Feb 2018 mentioned you'd expect to pay 14.5K for a low mileage UK import landed including travel. Just wondering what that figure might be now.

Last trip to UK to buy a car was in 2008!

autotrader.co.uk will give you options across all UK, you can narrow down to an area if you want, ie liverpool.

Few people i know have used cargiant in london before with no issues.

    EG

VRT on that around the 3K mark, Stat code 45187759

Can the speedo be switched with the push of a button to km/h, that example has mph only which would be a headwrecker on a relatively new car.

    I had a 2015 2.0 Titanium that I brought in from NI late 2016.

    Pros;
2.0 engine is the right engine choice, it's a big car and it's able to pull it well.
Masses of interior space (probably only bettered by the Superb in that class), huge boot as well (hatch)
    Very good motorway cruiser.
Plenty of kit on the higher spec models.

    Cons:
Not as economical as I'd hoped for.
The Sync interface is maddeningly slow.
A lot of random electrical faults on my one(push-button start, and the keys not connecting to the car).
Stupid stuff from the LHD conversion as Colm outlined (engine bay opener in the passenger footwell )

Yes, you can do it via the on-screen functions.

Thanks for the help Forks - Would it be advisable to move up to a 2016 or 2017 model? Were there early issues that were sorted out over time?

I think the interior got a slight refresh from 2017, they moved the electronic parking brake button to a more suitable position for RHD versions.

2.0 litre is definitely the engine of choice, it is available in 150bhp, 180bhp and 210bhp(powershift auto only afaik). Titanium, ST Line X or a Vignale if you can get one within budget.

I think the refresh you mention only happened in 2018.

Not sure how widespread they were being honest.

17- models mostly got cosmetic changes (adding the ST line etc) as far as i know.

Thanks for all of your advice folks.

Two more questions if you don't mind please!

    1. Is the automatic a good choice in these?
    2. Are they a significantly better car than the last model? Budget constraints has me half considering looking for a Titanium 2014 Mondeo with lowish mileage and a service history.....

Just wondering if I should wait it out and keep saving or settle for the old model.... In fairness I have a 2008 one at the moment and really like it - All I'm missing is Bluetooth audio really - and the mileage is a bit high - worried about breakdowns/future costs etc.
