    Hi all,

    I'm working in Switzerland as a Consultant and want to figure out how to clarify and optimise my tax situation - i.e. where I'm supposed to pay, and how much. I assumed I'd pay in Switzerland, but it seems it's not so straightforward.

    Do you have any experience in a similar situation?
    Could you recommend a good tax adviser/consultant?

    Many thanks,
    Con

    where are you domiciled/resident for tax purposes?

    Have you set up an offshore company in one of the tax havens?

    I've been working as a consultant in Switzerland for a little over a year. As far as I am aware to work in Switzerland legally you must obtain a work permit and in order to do that you first need to have a work contract with a Swiss company. As a non permanent resident you cannot work as a sole trader or under your own limited company. Tax on income earned in Switzerland has to be paid in Switzerland.

    There are several Swiss payroll companies who can manage all of this for you. I've been dealing with a company called Helvetic Payroll and I've had no complaints so far, very easy to deal with.

    Thanks for your replies.

    @Calahonda52
    I'm working for a UN agency and it's unclear how such Consultants are to be taxed. Is the offshore company in a tax haven very difficult, or somewhat easy to do?

    Well copied - thanks for the steer. How much does Helvetic Payroll cost (approx)?
