Why have power on a balcony?

The previous owner of my duplex went to some effort to have an outside power socket installed on the balcony/ patio.
Just curious as to what could be used on a balcony that would need a socket? It's a concrete area so no garden tools would be needed, and it's not overlooked so you wouldn't put up Christmas lights.

Electric heater, electric grill, mini fridge, non bluetooth sound system, outdoor TV. Think big OP.

I'm amused at the suggestion that Christmas lights exist only to impress the neighbours.

Sadly I think that's true for a lot of people!

If it was me, it would be Christmas lights for the winter or maybe a radio/music system for summer time

Weird thread, I can see so many uses for an outdoor socket on a balcony, overlooked or not!

    Water feature. Outside light.

Realise that the one shown weighs in about 4 tonnes. A typical balcony wouldn't be able to take it. :D

There's a light already out there.

I am guessing whatever required power was screwed into the wall as there are two holes near the socket, at about knee level. I was thinking a heater, but it seems strange to have it at that level.

Exactly. Why wouldn't someone want an outside socket.

Maybe he needed a socket so he could use a corded drill while installing his outdoor socket? :p
