Hi just wondered does anyone have any experience with getting their blood sugar readings from an Apple iPhone and Apple watch. Was interested as I might get them for my son. He is currently using the Freestyle libre sensor and I think u can hook it up to the apple iPhone and apple watch?

    https://www.dexcom.com/en-IE

Dexcom are out ages, gives and stores readings every few minutes, even while you're asleep

Libre is an Irish copycat kinda version, had to pass the phone/ reader near it to get a reading - patent skirting i presume

How does it get the blood sugar readings?

Tiny hollow wire stuck in you skin, susses bm from interstitial fluid

The transmitter on top just broadcasts it over bluetooth

Dexcom does the cloud thing - if your kid is using a phone with it you will be able to see his data too anywhere in the world

I have a different phone but the Dexom has been a life changer - aver 33 years since I was diagnosed with Type 1.

Our daughter has recently got the 640g pump and will get the sensor in a few weeks and you can veiw her readings via phone or watch. Groups on facebook i'm looking at https://www.facebook.com/groups/NightscoutForMedtronic/ might point you in the right direction.

You'll need some way of reading the Libre all the time with another device attached over the top of the Libre.

I think that you can use the likes of a Miao Miao to then communicate via Bluetooth to your phone and using the Spike app to link then with the Apple watches/ phones. I'm not certain on the Apple side of things though and some iDevices definately do not work.

I have the Libre, then with a hacked Sony Smart Watch 3 over the top of it, this then connects to the Libre Alarm app on my Android phone, which then shares data with the XDrip app on my phone, which then displays the BG data on a Pebble smart watch on my wrist. I've been using this setup for a couple of years now and it was as complicated as it sounds to setup initially.
The likes of Miao Miao are far simpler things that are available to CGM a Libre now.

Be aware before spending too much time/ money/ brain cells in trying to set this up that there will be a new version of the Libre released in the next couple of months. This will include some form of high/ low warnings but at the moment it's not entirely clear how or what those alarms will tell us. It might be that these new Libre 2 devices will no longer work with whatever hacks people are currently using for CGMing their Libres, or it might make those hacks redundant.
