    Hi,
I have a bunch of British Friesian bullocks in the yard at the moment and I am looking for a few suggestions on the best way to finish them. They weigh about 540kg on average and are on silage and 2.7kg meal at the moment.

Hoping to get them out on good grass by 1st March. Just not sure what the best approach would be once they are back on grass .

    Thanks

    Niall

Cut back the meal now and let them out as planned in March. You could start feeding again in May to finish them in late June or July or what I would probably do is let them graze away till July/August and then start mealing them to finish under 30 months in sept/Oct if their ages are right.

    Why leave them back out?

Gradually up the ration to 7 kg a day and in 2 months let them off with 300ish carcass weight and sell excess grass from here to June.

    just an idea

Cut the meal now. Out to grass in March. Keep as good grass in front of them as you can. Start mealing them late may early June and hope to have beef in mid July.
