If i go into the sd card, i can see the folders and the music but i can't so that on the media player.

    Any help or advice ??

Is there a file on the SD card (where your music is stored) called .nomedia? What music player are you using? What happens when you double click an MP3?

Limitation of Chrome OS that android apps don't have access to storage in general.

Read some where that you can selected multiple files and form a queue to play in VLC for example.

If your upto hacking some config files, there is a method (1 year old post) here that may give you access to sdcard from other apps.

As this does involve modifying a system file, rootfs verification needs to be off. Chrome OS will likely undo the modifications when it auto-updates*. Modifying system files can potentially lead to a forced powerwash and/ or USB recovery situation. It would be best to ensure any important files have been backed up.

Limited selection of quality Android Tablets, there not really popular any more, Mi Pad 4 or expensive Samsung versions are only worth considering.

Chromebooks (2 in 1/Detachable) and Chrome OS Tablets are where the future development is focused.

I'm on the look out for Nexus 9, replacement and If you know the limitations of chrome os and what you need it for. (It has improved with android/Linux integration).

Never really consider a tablet for MUSIC playback when my phone can do it better.

We get to the heart of the matter and your particular needs.

You could put the sdcard in your phone and run an app (BubbleUPnP on android) that creates a DNLA server, so you could stream from it to your ChromeBook/MAC.

Or would you consider a Wireless File Hub, that also has a DLNA server?

You should be able to select what media to play.

^^^ Suggestions, since you may already have the chromebook?

Keeping an eye for even a second hand Pixel C could be an option. They should be cheap now and mine is still flying (though unfortunately only on 8.1).
