Regulations regarding Flue for gas boiler

    Hi,

I have a query about my gas boiler and flue pipe. My boiler was fitted about 15 feet away from an external wall. The flue pipe runs horizontally above the ceiling for that distance and is not secured in place, but resting on the joists. As it was fitted above the ceiling, there is no way to access it. I have had boiler issues over the years because the boiler cannot suck in enough oxygen due to the length of the flue. 2 years ago, access hatches and C02 alarms were put in at each join but they are too small to actually get properly at the flue.

Recently my C02 alarms went off and my boiler had to be shut off. I have been recommended to have the boiler moved to the external wall, but it's a small kitchen so it will interfere with the limited space for my table and chairs and be very unsightly.

The construction company who built my house (in 2009) insist that it complied with safety regulations at the time. My question is about whether this is true or not. Can you help me to understand what the safety regulations were in 2009 in relation to the positioning of gas boilers and flue pipes? Have searched online but can only find regulations from 2014 forward.
