Compare Lexus GS450h to GS300h

Hello folks
I am coming to replace the current 450h and there are almost none out there 2nd hand ; has anyone any experience of the 131 onwards 300h as I am mithered trying to find a 450 in-country ( 131 or better ) ; did people just give up on the 450s these last few years

Many thanks for any advice - I had a good look around and even though the post-2012 GS is nowhere near what it replaces - my sadly long-gone 2006 SE-L is still hankered after by the missus - I still cant think of anything better .

Dont want Audi or BMW - is there anything out there comparable ?

Nobody bought them here because they were too expensive and their German rivals offered diesel versions which were had tax benefits to business users. The last model was also a huge step back on the previous model when it came to styling and upmarket packaging. Unlike the previous model it just looked like a larger IS than a smaller LS. I'd say the UK is your best bet for another GS450h.

Merc E Class or Volvo S90 T8 hybrids would be alternatives.

To be fair, the post 2012 GS is a decent car, and well capable of replacing the previous model. As said, the price was high here so people all opted for the 300 as soon as they came out instead, they have the 2.5 4-cyl hybrid, because they were a good bit cheaper. If you're not interested in the power aspect, you could get a well spec'd one of those.
Better go to the UK though and get a full-fat 450h, but they have gone up in value in the last 3 years due to increased demand for hybrid. But get one in before Brexit adds VAT to your import bill!
F-Sport or Premier are the ones you want to replace a SE-L with, ignore the Luxury model. Those top two are the ones that have upgraded seats and the wider screen, with many other extras, Levinson sound etc. that will be a match for your old SE-L.

My recollection (which may not be accurate, so please confirm) is that the GS300h has a distinct lack of comparative oomph and is considerably slower than the old GS300 petrol. GS450h is a different animal altogether - that is a genuinely fast car.

2.5 litre 4 cylinder (GS300h) versus 3.5 litre v6 (GS450h) makes a big difference in performance.

Oh I know - have had more than 1 450; really I wanted to see if anyone had driven the 300h as there seems to be a fair few of them as taxis

ha ha ha I was indeed looking at that lot . I suppose for me as mentioned I wanted to see if anyone could give first hand knowledge of the 300h .

An even that Premier doesnt have adaptive cruise you need to get to the 2016 models before they roll it in . Lovely job tho

Followup got a fully loaded Premier 131 over , the guy trading it in was hooking up with a new ES which are lovely looking but there is no ES450 as yet.

Do you mind me asking what will it be standing you all in? Well wear too I will have to wait another few years until they reach my budget!

Research showed it was almost impossible to get a post 2015/2016 GS450 everyone switched to the 300h which I am not quite happy about I like the GS450h power

SO I spent ages waiting for a 450h. Got one for 22k sterling , May 2013 with all the bits , LKA and ACC , 48500 miles. I could have pushed a little harder on price but they sorted me out OK and I was under time pressure. Had no tradein
