Who to call to replace an automatic valve in a heating system?

    Hi everyone.

In my parent's house in Cork there have been some issues with the heating and the boiler, and it seems to be down to a possibly dodgy automatic valve as it's only possible to get the heating on for the ground floor when the lever on this valve is switched to manual.

It's an EPH Controls valve, model V221 - an older one I'd say probably put in over 10 years ago.

What kind of service would be looking to call to get that replaced? Just a plumber? Or would be looking for people who specialise in heating systems, as perhaps a plumber wouldn't touch it because of the electrical stuff? Really not sure who we should be looking for here.

Any advice here appreciated. Except perhaps suggestions to replace it ourselves - I get that sometimes it's cheaper to DIY it, but in this case we are definitely looking for someone with experience to sort out the valve for us.

    Thanks.

Either a plumber or electrician. Just ask whoever you call if they will do such work.

A capable handyman could do this if he had the right replacement part. I can understand you not wanting to get involved in doing it yourself, there is a bit of wiring involved, but it's not really a specialised job.
