Jobseekers Allowance and part-time jobs

    Hi everyone,

I need some help in terms of long-term Jobseeker Allowance. I hope someone can help me out with the questions below:-

    1. How do I go about transferring from the Dole to long-term unemployment?

    2. I also been offered a part-time job. My skills set is very unique, (it’s just circumstantial that I am unemployed), therefore payment would be higher than average for a short period of time. Basically, I would be working at around 40 hours over 12 weeks (2-3 hours a week) and receive payment around 9,000 euro. Will they cut my long-term Jobseeker Allowance? Is the benefit tied to the number of hours do you work or the amount that you receive as payment?

    3. Does it make any difference that I am a single mother?

    Thanks a mill in advance!

Is this self employed or PAYE work?

You will be averaging €750 per week so I don't think there is any means tested payment you can claim for that period. Best to suspend your claim for 12 weeks and re-active the claim after the work is finished.

    In response to your question:
    1. The dole is unemployment assistance aka jobseekers allowance so I don't understand the question.

    2. The Dole is jobseekers allowance and it is means tested. It is based on your income.
