Hi could someone please explain, my husband has recently been out of wrk due to an injury and is currently receiving supplementy welfare allowance but we have got married and they social welfare are not aware yet. I work full time but wages aren't great l. If we inform them we are married will he lose his payment. I have looked online but can't find anything to inform me how much I can earn before his payment is stopped.

We want to be as honest and inform them but really can't afford to lose his payment.

    Any advice would be appreciated

If he is on jobseekers benefit he won't lose a payment if your inform them but if it's jobseekers allowance he will be means tested against your earnings.

He was refused illness benefit asl they say it was based on prsi but in the process of appealing it, if he did get illness benefit is that also means tested?

Illness benefit is not means tested. If he was refused it was probably due to him not having enough prsi contributions. How many years has he been working?

Has been working years but was out of wrk for few. Weeks waiting on a new job to start he is short 7 stamps for illness benefit from the year they base it on.

If I understand you correctly your husband is getting supplementary welfare allowance as he is unfit for work and doesn’t have enough PRSI contributions.
Now you have got married and started living together so he must inform the SW office of his change in circumstances and then they will means test him and they will require some of your payslips to see if he continues to be entitled to SWA.
The fact that you have a mortgage or other bills will not be taken into account.
Until he is well enough to go back to work if you are having trouble paying your bills then I would advise you to contact your local MABS office for help with budgeting.
