Does anyone know how long. You can back date a change of ownership when you are sending off a log book.

I'm using my van for scrappage but my brother in law has a van which is of less value.

He would take my van. That's fine we could switch that over. But I would have to own his van for 6 months. Is it to messy to back date a logbook say 5 months or will they even do that?

A couple of weeks perhaps, 5 months, no chance.

Yeah thought as much. Shame. Looks like I'll have to try and negotiate the difference with the dealer.

Have you spoke to the dealer about it, perhaps they will facilitate it as is. Worst case scenario could you get your brother to buy the new van with your funds and then have him sign it over to you, I know it will add another owner but likely will work out better for you in the long run.

Yeah don't think that would bother me. If I go for new I would be planning to keep it for a long time. Yeah I'll talk to the dealer .Ill ask..I thought scrappage was a government thing though and paper work would have to be in order.

I'm basically scrapping a van worth 1000- 1200 with 8 months test and in good nick and there is another van in the family that is on its last test according to a mechanic

There is no Govt scrappage scheme, so it's entirely down to the dealer and how keen he is for your business. ..

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Oh right. I've only been on the phone so far. Think I'll go down in the brothers van and say this is what I have but I only own it a month. See what he says. Thanks for that.
