Street Lighting Options

Hello,

We are putting up some street lighting to illuminate a laneway. The intention is to have it working based on PIR sensors.
In order to avoid having to perform a lot of digging to lay a cable I was wondering what the options were for solar power street lighting and their effectiveness.

I've had a quick look on eBay and Amazon, but there is nothing standing out for me. I've seen setups for £25 all the way up to £2,800 and everything in between.

What is the reliability and performance of these types of setups and is there any recommended products? I would have expected that this technology should be fairly mature and robust by now, depending on the manufacturer.

rechargable battery might be an option if it's PIR controlled

i don't think there'd be anything decent solar based

If you are not too fussy you could wire the lights and clip the wire to a wall and have them work off a photo cell.

If you run the cables you will get decent lights for 80-200 euro. I haven't seen anything solar that's been any way decent (Not to say they aren't out there) but I suspect they will be disappointing.

Yes, from what I've now been reading, solar lights are not good yet.
There are some options available online - not the Amazon crap - but they are big money.

I have some of the Amazon wall mounted solar lights in a yard and I find them great. No comparison with proper street lights but at least you won't trip over things. They need to be located where they will get plenty of light during the day. For installation, all you need is a nail to hang them on.

I've bought a few great led lights off Amazon for my own use.

Bulkhead and canopy lights.

What marking should be on them to ensure they comply for installation work? I wouldn't trust them that way.
