Is there any way to cut the wait time for doing driving test?

    Hi all,

I foolishly left obtaining my full license on the long finger for a long time.
I have been contacted and interviewed for a job. I wouldn't need to drive initially whilst training but after that the job involves visiting customer sites.

Most would be accessible by public transport but understandably my prospective employer is a bit concerned that I don't have a full license.

I got my provisional license in Dec..will do an intensive course to do the EDT.
However, it looks like I need to wait 6 months before I apply for the test and then there is a waiting list of a couple of months to get a test window.

I learned to drive years ago when I lived in London, I sat and failed the test there and just never bothered to try again.

I regret that now but that's the situation I am in.

Is there any way around the 6 month wait period ?

    Thanks

I don't think there's a way to get around the 6 month wait unfortunately. After the 6 months you can call to try get a cancellation test at short notice rather than wait to be allocated one.

No way round the 6 months but you don’t need to wait that long, or even until you’ve finished your EDT to actually apply for the test. You can do it today and you’ll reduce your overall waiting time that way. As soon as you’re ready to sit it, call them for a date.
