i received an application for this scheme in the post from my local welfare office

i applied as i have 2 kids at home , on 03/01/19 i received my first payment

but is this supposed to be backdated ???

i ask this as i owe the welfare for 2 weeks money i received before i told them about my new job , so not sure if they have taken that payment or if i still owe them and i wanna settle the bill so to speak

It's backdated to your application date and not the date you started employment.
