Any hope of negotiating the price on top of the scrappage deal?

    Hi All,

Nissan is currently offering scrappage deals. I have a 15 years old car worth less than 1.5k. I checked on Nissan website the value of trade in if I take a new 191 Juke and they say they will guarantee 3,5K (I am a bit skeptical on this). That would bring the price of the new car to 16.5K (excluding delivery and related charges).

Do you think there is still wiggle room on the price of the new car?

    Thanks

On one hand you think the scrappage is too good to be true yet wonder if you can do better still?

I should have been clearer. I don't know the normal price of Juke after negociation. Maybe 16.5k is a normal price.

There’s a new model Juke on the way.

Thanks. I've seen it should be available in June-July.
I will check with the dealer.

Dealer will probably tell you there isn't a new model or it's very similar so take what they say on that front with a pinch of salt, after all it's their job to try and sell what is in front of them.

Regarding the original question - The scrappage scheme is being given by the manufacturer and is just another word for discount. The dealer still gets his cut so there should be scope for a bit more flexibility with him on the asking price. I'd expect a bit more flexibility on a Juke that has been on sale since 2010 and being replaced with a new model very soon. If you don't get a bit more off a Juke then I'd walk as it's very dated these days and it would have to be significantly cheaper than it's more modern rivals to be considered.
