    Hi folks,

My mum turns 66 this year. She is currently in receipt of the contributary widows pension. Does she need to apply for the old age pension or is there an automatic switch over? I don't really understand the rules of how the pension is calculated. I think she currently recieves €203.50 a week. Can anyone tell me what she needs to know or what forms to fill in etc.

The good news is that her payment will automatically increase to €243.30 (this will increase by a further €5 in the spring).
She doesn’t have to do anything.
If she already has a PSC then she will get a new one with her Free Travel on it.
She will be entitled to electricity alliwance and free tv licence as long as she is living alone but she will have to apply for it.
If she has other income but it’s less than €100 per week then she will be entitled to the Fuel Allowance too.

That's a good reply, thanks for the info. She doesn't live alone so is not entitled to household benefits package or fuel allowance. That's all the info I need. Thanks again. :)
