Is this possible? Circa €15k. Previously always paid with Bank draft or transfer.

Has anyone here paid with a debit card? It would be preferably to a transfer in case the car is not right.

    Cheers.

I used Transfermate. Great rates and fast transfer. Recommended.

Thanks Henry, once happy with the car how did you authorise the payment, and how quick was it to land in the sellers account?

    Revolut card.

You get best rates for any exchange in currency and only put what you need on the card.

    Oh and no charges.

I used a TSB debit card to transfer £5000 for a car in the North. Dealer did it while I was there. No problems, but it might be worth confirming with your bank beforehand.

All done online, with some extra security too.

Transfermate hold accounts with pretty much all the UK banks.

    So what you do is:-

1/. Open Transfermate account. Deposit funds in €.

2/. Do fx deal when the final price is agreed (rates are way better than high street or cc).

3/. Add payees bic and iban and authorise payment online.

    4/. Wait for cleared funds.

It took 15 mins in my case.

I also used Transfer mate last Friday and got a better rate than my cousin who sent through AIB. We were both buying on the same day from the same dealer.

Collecting the car on Friday, can I set up and account, get my funds in and out in time?

I paid for my car in the UK using both Revolut and N26. Great exchange rate and got a real time notification on my phone.

Call them 1st thing tomorrow and it'll work.

    Best of luck with it.

Just to note there is a 0.5% fee on Revolut when you spend above 6k per month.
