Am I entitled to a refund

Just bought a car, paid 200 euro deposit in December, back in January to pay balance and just noticed that the deposit amount I paid was added back to the original price but should have been deducted, contacted the dealer and have been informed, a mistake was made in the calculation as the price for the model below the one I wanted was used in the calculation so basically have been told instead of a 400 refund, the dealer is out of pocket by 700 as the model I got was 1100 dearer. Am I fighting a losing battle here by pursuing this?

Check the list price of the two models.
If you really got an €1100 discount and they are standing over that you would seem to have done well.

Personally if I had a contract for something and they increased the price by 400 euro, did not tell me, hoping I would not notice and when I did notice only then told me they had ordered the right car at the wrong price, I would not be inclined to entertain them...
Making a mistake is one thing, but making a mistake, and charging you 400 extra without telling you in advance is just a trust destroying dickish move

My cheque has just cleared but I have the paperwork with the deposit added on and signed by myself as a binding sale, I am hesitant to pursue it as I have been a long time customer here but then again, a deal is a deal. And you are right, I wasn't notified about this error.

Is the car you are buying dearer than what you paid? If so and they made a mistake resulting in your being undercharged then quit while your ahead and count yourself lucky that you made such a saving.

I'd point out you feel it's all a bit underhanded, but you've a good relationship and would like to keep it that way. Ask them to thrown in a service or two, tank of petrol, a valet, whatever service they can.

If it's a new car and the prices are correct, they've just given you a €700 discount, I'd be pretty chuffed.
