    Hi
I'm looking to buy a car in the UK. I am thinking of purchasing a car through the website ukcarimports.ie
Has anyone used this website to purchase a car. I would welcome your comments. Thanks.

Hi lads, anyone have any feedback on this company ?

Their website simply pulls ads from autotrader.co.uk adds a 10-15% markup and guesses the VRT and NOx charges. Don't see why you wouldn't go direct to source for the cars.

The problem at moment for me is I can’t afford to have to take a week to go to Uk and then have to self isolate from work for another two weeks ... 3 weeks annual leave wasted . Any other suggestions appreciated :)

There are companies that will deliver your car to your door (or Dublin port if you want to keep price down). Check out eirtrans, nvd and donedeal. Cost is roughly €500 even in pre/post-Covid it's a better option than collecting yourself.

You can also hire a local mechanic to do an inspection before buying. Usually around £60.

You don’t need to self isolate or take time off work. It only takes two phone calls. One to the dealer to pay for the car and one for the transport company to have the car delivered to your door. Your just paying UK Imports to do this for you. Don’t know why anyone would use this service

You wouldn’t be seeing the car if you got it off UK Imports either ?

Pay the likes of the AA or RAC do a full inspection of the car in the UK before committing to buying.

The alternative is look up North.

Sorry for the silly question, but what does AA or RCA mean? thank you

Both of the below organisations can inspect second hand cars as well as provide a breakdown service.
    The Automobile Association
    http://www.theaa.co.uk/

    The Royal Automobile Club
    https://www.royalautomobileclub.co.uk/

In American the AA is Alcoholics Anonymous, not the best people to ask to check a car for you.:D

Question ive often had but how do they inspect at the dealership. Surely they cant put the car up on a ramp so is it really a thorough inspection? I've heard good reports about the inspections just dunno how it happens

I got a local mechanic to do mine and he did put it up on jack to inspect the undercarriage. He was very thorough to the point he was rating how cold the AC was.
