Are most stolen cars reported?

Since Oct 1st I made a note of every night we had a robbed car flying up and down the road, after a while I stopped and noted the nights where we DIDN'T have one, there's been 6 such nights.

So, all those cars taken, cars that people are gonna be without for work the next morning, bringing the kids to school, making appointments etc. I'm wondering that since what, over 90 cars are gone from just this area alone inside the timeframe, and there's not a peep from the media and no Garda presence (they fly up and down the same road every night, I mean would it really be that hard to block both ends with squadcars or something?), are these cars not being reported stolen?
I'm wondering if it's to do with the insurance or something? Maybe just cheaper to replace the cars themselves than have to deal with the premiums? I dunno the whole situation is surreal, I mean there's a cctv mast up as well, crazy stuff.

Very few are robbed cars these days, it's easier for them to buy a banger for little or no money thats uneconomical to have it on the roads anymore (failed NCT etc..) or else is pretty much uninsurable ...thus people can't get rid of them.

Aaaaahhhh I see.... well at least people aren't getting their cars taken, that's something at least.

Most people don't know that the car is stolen till they go to work in the morning. There seems to be plenty reported also

I could not find car theft in the CSO crime stats

You know that the scumbags target Garda vehicles so blocking the roads with a squad car just makes it more fun for the scumbags

When there was a lot more in the news about anti social behaviour involving cars a few years back, I heard about what were called Company Cars. Bangers shared among gangs.
