    Hello,
We are in the market for a 2017 1.6 petrol Juke CVT. I'm concerned about the CVT in Nissan cars and i have heard some horror stories.
Does anyone have any experience with the CVT box and any ideas what the MPG is like?
    Thanks

Friend had one as a rental and said it was very heavy on petrol. The 1.6 is quite an old engine and has effectively been replaced by the 1.2 turbo.

Thanks..How heavy on juice are we talking? do you think we would we see 40mpg on motorway driving? Don't mind taking too much of hit on fuel so long as the transmission isn't troublesome.

I had one rented in Spain recently and thought the fuel needle dropped quite fast. Then when i went to fill it from close to reserve it took only 35 litres to fill. So it just must have a small talk. It cost about €100 for about 1000kms at about €1.24 per litre while i had it on mixed driving.
The reorts on reliability of the Cvt sound bad on internet.

    46 litre tank. €100 for 1000KM @ 1.24 per litre = roughly 35mpg

Late 30s. It’s such a badly paired combo though, loud engine combined with gearbox that makes the engine scream.

Would you not look at a Kia Soul or something? Traditional torque converter box and 1.6 Diesel engine.

Herself isn't sold on the Soul , the ix20 is an option but 1.6 auto petrol will return the same MPG. She is looking for mini crossover style sub 20k.

A fan of automatics generally, I wouldn't touch any CVT box car. Noisy, uneconomical and unreliable imho.

A torque convertor or double clutch box is far superior : one of each in this house now.

Currently have 130k on a Renault EDC boxed car with zero problems.

You can't tar all CVTs with the same brush. The large majority of small modern Japanese automatics are CVTs, and 95% percent of cars sold in Japan are automatics, so I can't imagine they're selling so well if they're all thirsty and unreliable.

I don't get the noise complaint - sure, if you push them hard the revs go up. That's how you make decent progress in any car.

The Toyota/Lexus hybrid "eCVT" boxes use planetary gearsets and are totally different to traditional CVTs - they are certainly not unreliable or uneconomical. I have one, and prefer the lack of discrete gear ratios - it leads to a much smoother ride. And once it's cruising and not climbing a steep hill it's rarely above 2,000 RPM.

I had a ct200h for a short while loved the box in it currently driving a DSG had to replace the fly wheel but every gearbox has horror stories on the net if you look hard enough

The CT200h has the same transaxle (the electric motors are part of the gearbox, essentially) as the 3rd generation Prius and Auris Hybrid, and there are no horror stories. They generally do not break.
