    Hi lads,
I have a tractor that is over 25 years old and I want to insure it for vintage and light agri work. It will only be used to bring home turf and the odd but of work around the house. I have no land or farm. Where would be the best place to get insurance?

FBD. Around €90 for the year

is it 25 or 30 y.o. to be classed as vintage? (just curious)

I was looking into this earlier in the year for a MF35 that I restored. So I went to FBD.

From memory, they can only do it if you are a member of and in association with the vintage club. I wasn't a member at the time so I did a bit of googling and ended up in contact with the brokers that arrange the policies for the vintage club.

They were very clear. The policy only covers the use of the tractor for shows / going to shows and the light agri use, really related to bringing a load (as in one) of turf from the bog in a year. Using the tractor with a sprayer, haybob, or anything else, would exceed the "light agri use" terms and invalidate the policy.

In the end, the insurance was something like €90 as Reggie suggests but you have to be a member of the Vintage Club too. I can't remember the membership, though it wasn't a lot. Anyway, for the sake of about €40, I wasn't going to change the usage and find that I had no insurance in the event of something happening. So I ended up taking out the normal tractor policy with FBD.

What price was the normal policy?

I'd have to check to be sure but I think it was about €160/ 170 after a bit of haggling. Third party, fire and theft.

I normally get the light agri use for €90 but I am a member of a vintage club

Before Christmas FBD were giving the €70 IFA members discount on tractor insurance policies to non members as long as you agreed to take a call from them to "discuss" membership, no obligation to join.
I dont know if theyre still offering this discount.
