    Hi there,

Looking at a house in Manor Estate, Dublin 12.

The address is listing itself as; Manor Estate, Terenure, Dublin 12.

Anyone know what is the correct address for this area?

    Thank you.

The OH's mother lives here. Would consider it Perrystown myself. Wouldn't quite put it in Terenure.

    Lovely area either way though.

That's probably correct. People have always been funny about addresses. When the first post codes came in, there was all sorts of political interference in the process, so we ended up with parts of Terenure being D6W because some people didn't like the idea of being called Dublin 26 and being associated with the ruffians in Tallaght.

Likewise the crew in Manor Estate were worried about being associated with Greenhills, Perrystown or Walkinstown, so started adding "Manor Estate, Terenure" to their addresses to separate themselves from the riff-raff.
Edit: Looking at the old townland maps, "Manor Estate" as a whole basically used to be called "Whitehall". It was never a part of Terenure, with Kimmage separating Whitehall from Terenure. Though it was included in the Terenure electoral district.

It doesn't really matter in the main. Eircodes have done away with the need for these long addresses. You could put "Terenure, Dublin 24" on a letter and it will get to your house in Tallaght so long as you have first line of the address right.

If you check the Eircode website for the house, you'll get the "official" An Post address.

There are few firm lines of demarcation, dividing Walkinstown from Crumlin or Greenhills for example, so saying where something 'really' is often isn't possible.

That said, Manor Estate is in Perrystown, or maybe even Greenhills or Templeogue, but definitely not Terenure :pac:

Which part do you mind me asking, couple of new build estates going up! it is not Terenure for starters, majority of what would be the manor estate ( incl new builds) is more or less Greenhills /Perrystown.

Up to 20 years ago this area was simply Perrystown or Greenhills. Then someone had the bright idea of Dublin 6W.

I know someone who lives on the Greentrees Road and she insists she lives in Dublin 6W but to everyone else she lives in Greenhills Dublin 12. Perrystown is the name of the area down the Whitehall Road, The Laurels Pub etc

Its not Terenure by any stretch of the imagination

I just googled the location to be sure of where your asking about, certainly not terenure. I would call it greenhills or perrystown. However I grew up in Greenhills and it’s a great place and manor estate is very nice. Nice and quiet and very well settled.

Yes it is very nice, love the house, love the location, the address is just a bit confusing as it's quite a distance from Terenure village, the price of the house is probably increased to take in a Terenure address! Don't want to be ripped off! Thanks everyone

Yeah it’s terenure if your selling and greenhills if your buying.
Best of luck anyway as I said it’s a nice spot regardless.

I'd have called it Perrystown, and it's miles from Terenure

Many on the property price register just call it "Manor Estate"

I wouldn't have called any of Dublin 12 Terenure.

I find this website helps... https://www.townlands.ie

A bit like Glasnevin Ave previously called Ballymun Ave. The people who call Manor Estate Terenure are fooling no one.

I reckon most people who live in the area don't see Manor Estate as Terenure unless they have serious notions! nonetheless the general area has a number of areas bumping up against each other therefore the lack of clarity. Obviously estate agents will seek to draw advantage from any address.
The area is so small it barely warrants a different place name. I personally would see it as Greenhills. On the other side of Green Trees road it is Perrystown.
I live near the area, and the following map is MY interpretation of the areas (excuse the writing - its done in MS Paint and not by my 5 year old :-)
