My husband has been on illness benefit since the start of November. Our GP recommend he leave his job which was causing him serious stress and effecting his life.

He is ready to come off illness benifit but if he moves to job seekers will he be disqualified for 9 weeks or will the GPs recommendation be "a reasonable cause"

I'm working but we have a young child so up to 9 weeks with no income is just unthinkable/

Does he need to come off illness benefit, before getting another, more suitable job?

because of a dispute between GP and social welfare over the new illness benefit forms our GP is charging 8euro a week to get the medical cert filled out. so thats 8euro we are losing out on a week when on illness benefit.

thats disgraceful, and possibly illegal. maybe check in with your local citizens information office to see what options are available for you and your family, ive never been charged for illness benefit forms, but this was before the implementation of the new form system.

No he won’t be disqualified at all. As he is applying for the benefit in 2019 I trust he has sufficient PRSI contributions and credits in 2017?
