My friend after a number of trips to the Philippines met a girl and after a relationship online and there ,,,they got married over there 6 months or more ago.

He is very anxious to have her here , as she is, to get on with their married life.

There is a multitude of paperwork , contradictory advice from embassy here and over there.

Bottom line is that it is a most unsatisfactory situation and not progressing meaningfully.

Is there any specific legal advice ( flac are ok but not great) or immigration solicitor/ barrister that anyone is aware of that specoaliss in foreign marriages/ visas etc that could give him specific , direct advice , to expedite this matter without further delay

Do they want advice on a divorce or on immigration?

Would he not want to get on with his married life over there?

    See http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/wp07000024

    One key point from it:

"Marriage to an Irish national does not confer an automatic right of residence in the State"

He needs to reach out and find another Irish man who has successfully brought a Philippino wife to live with him here.

Why is it hypothetical? If the lad is married and loves her, I assume he and she would do everything to be together. Including moving to her country.

Based on what you described, it's best for this person to go live in the Philippines with their wife.

She will need to apply for Long Term, type 'D' Visa.
This will likely take 6 months or more, there is a large backlog at the moment.

The process is fairly clear, if quite slow. Has he applied for a visa for her and been refused or what's the issue?

There are lots of Philippino national wives of Irish men living happily here in Ireland. Has he been refused a D visa already ?

Clearly they would rather be living here, as the post suggests.

No problem, happy to help. Sooner you get it out of your head that she can come here the better. Book your flight and go live with her in the Philippines.

Racist comment , can this contributor be banned please ?

How is that racist? Merely stating that he is happy that people can't game the system in order to obtain a visa which they may not be otherwise entitled. His comment wasn't even specifically about the OP and more a general comment from my reading of it.

In fairness, the OP has come on here looking for specific advice.

Some other posters have decided to use this as an opportunity to express their views on immigration and suggesting the OP move to the Philippines.
Neither of which is relevant or particularly helpful

Absolutely correct. Further to that , based on my initial post that comment in my view , has unlikeable undertones..this is a genuine marriage in a difficult situation , as was pointed out and is known , no automatic right to come here , hence my Initial enquiry , re legal advice that could assist.
Thanks for all the helpful replies

I don’t know why you think she can’t come here. She most certainly can. Lots of Philippino people here in Ireland . They are currently the backbone of our health system. Very excellent at it they are too. The fact that you think they shouldn’t be permitted to be here is irrelevant and smacks of stupidity.
